American musician, co-lead singer, and bassist for the rock band Kiss, Gene Simmons, has been very talkative about cryptocurrencies for the past two weeks. Just recently, Simmons sat down with Dustin Plantholt, Bitcoin.com’s podcast host, and the two discussed a variety of topics like the Ripple lawsuit and why the rock star believes cryptocurrencies are valuable.

Gene Simmons talks about crypto in an upcoming Bitcoin.com exclusive podcast

Gene Simmons is best known for his band Kiss, formed in 1973 by Simmons, Paul Stanley, Peter Criss and Ace Frehley. Simmons is also known as an entrepreneur over the years. Just recently news.Bitcoin.com reported that Simmon had told his Twitter followers which cryptocurrencies he owned. Last week, the bassist told his fans that he had bought BTC, ETH, LTC, DOGE, XRP and other digital assets.

Rock star legend Gene Simmons has regularly discussed cryptocurrencies on social media and this week spoke to Dustin Plantholt, Bitcoin.com podcast host.

This Saturday, Simmons joined Tesla founder Elon Musk and hip-hop artist Snoop Dogg and started tweeting about Dogecoin (DOGE). Additionally, the Kiss rock star teamed up with Bitcoin.com podcast host Dustin Plantholt this week for a podcast sponsored by exchange.Bitcoin.com. During the conversation, Simmons Plantholt said that, unlike most of his colleagues, he was a bookworm and had read about economics at a young age.

“When I was a kid, I started reading things that the other kids didn’t read,” the Kiss bassist said during the podcast. “As you know, reading is essential. The more information I got, the more questions I had. I learned about capitalism and how it works, how the government prints money. That it was once based on gold and that’s where its value lies, and sometime in the past before most of you were born, the dollar was no longer gold based, ”added Simmons. The musician added:

[The dollar] based on nothing.

“That’s okay, if everything works,” Simmons insisted on Plantholt during the conversation. “Then the world will continue to be based on dollars somehow. Even the terrorists want to be paid in dollars rather than local wombat coins – I’m not the expert and I don’t run [you] or if I suggest someone get into cryptocurrency, I’m just telling you what I’m doing. The more governments, including the United States government, keep printing money based on nothing, at some point you’ll have to pay the piper. “

“Crypto has roots in people”

Simmons said he got into the crypto scene three months ago, studying Satoshi Nakamoto and the digital asset economy. When asked why it took him so long, Simmons explained that it takes time for the older generations to get it sometimes, and often they never really understand.

Tune in next week on Thursday February 11th, 2021 to hear the rest of the exclusive Gene Simmons interview on the Bitcoin.com podcast channel.

For example, he recalled that older family members never understood how he made money after doing 9 to 5 jobs a day. Simmons explained that money is changing, much like how influencers like the Kardashians changed the entertainment business.

“I did a little research on Satoshi and where he came from and what it was,” said the Kiss frontman. “It seems to me that the value of things is determined by people. The value of real estate is only based on what people say. The value of gold is just what people agree on, and even Wall Street and stocks are based on it [on people’s valuation]You can make your own valuation, but if people don’t buy the stock it doesn’t mean anything, ”Simmons said.

The Kiss bassist said that “Crypto seems like a friendly neighbor, meaning it has a lot more roots in people.” Simmons also noted that a number of well-known people were also interested in the crypto room. Simmons likes cryptocurrencies because of this pull and growing pull.

“You have your cold wallets ad infinitum, all this nonsense in the cryptocurrency language that the rest of us don’t understand,” he explained during the interview. “But there is a simple idea, and the simple idea is that you have a deck of cards, and cryptocurrency is one of those things. You can choose Litecoin, Bitcoin … whatever. How it started and what the intent was is not the problem for me. The problem for me and the appeal for me is that people like it. [Notable people] whether it’s Elon or whether it’s Camron and Tyler, there are a lot of interesting people. “

“The buffet people will change”

Additionally, Simmons said he had a conversation with Mark Cuban about bitcoin and that crypto deniers are changing or will change soon. “I had a discussion with Mark Cuban the other day and he was commenting on bitcoin,” Simmons said. “It’s changing too, the buffet people will change. You can’t avoid it, I know this Goldman [Sachs] People look at this, institutional money, and Scaramucci looks at it, ”added the musician. Simmons continued:

I don’t think for a second that most people understand what cryptocurrency is, what it’s designed for, but it’s immediate and you don’t have to deal with banks – I like that.

That was just a few minutes of discussion with Dustin Plantholt, Bitcoin.com’s podcast host, and Kiss’s Gene Simmons. The conversation lasted another 25 minutes and at one point in the discussion, Simmons said he believed China was behind the recent Ripple lawsuit. The musician also discussed music piracy and what he thinks about this trend, which has increased significantly over the past decade. At the end of the interview he told people not to go without money and that he still likes precious metals like gold and silver to this day.
