Cryptocurrency act could bring new, high-skilled jobs to area | Select

Senator Mike Flood presented more track records on his proposed Nebraska Financial Innovation Act at a Regulatory Affairs Committee meeting of the Norfolk Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday morning.

Flood reported that the law would motivate cryptocurrency companies to move their headquarters into the state by creating a charter for cryptocurrency financial institutions.

Flood mentioned that a friend who worked in the financial technology sector came to him shortly after Wyoming pinned the first item for a similar monthly bill, and expressed that he was thinking of moving his business to Wyoming. That dialogue gave Flood the plan, he explained.

“By focusing on the workforce and economic development, the Nebraska Fiscal Innovation Act sends a strong signal to fintech business professionals that Nebraska is open to business,” Flood said.
