Capital International Buys Nearly 1 Million Shares of Bitcoin-Focused Microstrategy – Finance Bitcoin News


Large asset management company Capital International has gotten into Bitcoin by investing in nearly 1 million shares of Microstrategy, which now holds more than 100,000 bitcoins.

  • Capital International Investors (CII) announced with the SEC in a July 12 filing that it had acquired shares of the Class A common stock (MSTR) of Microstrategy. The submission states:

CII is considered to be the beneficial owner of 953,242 shares or 12.2% of the 7,782,568 shares believed to be outstanding.

  • Capital International is a division of the Capital Group, a global investment firm founded in Los Angeles, California in 1931. The firm is one of the oldest and largest investment management companies in the world with over $ 2.2 trillion in assets under management as of December 31, 2020.
  • Microstrategy has acquired Bitcoin as its key strategy. On June 21, CEO Michael Saylor announced that his company’s bitcoin holdings had reached 105,085 BTC, which was purchased for about $ 2.741 billion at an average price of about $ 26,080 per bitcoin.
  • At the time of writing, Microstrategy’s bitcoins are worth more than $ 3.62 billion.
